Valentine's bleeding hearts by faerywitch Valentine's bleeding hearts by faerywitch
Ah well, late for Valentine's day, but I have been so busy! No matter, the important thing is that here it is, to say thank you to all of you who show me your love and support every day
I tried to make it all pink, I really did! But all pink just hurts my eyes! So I had to throw in some other colors.

This is so cute, Constanza! Happy belated valentine's day! :giggle: The colors in this are really lovely! And the bleeding hearts were so perfect for this picture! I also love the pretty clothing, and she has such a coy, seductive look on her face! And the frame with the weaved ribbon is just gorgeous!

Aww, Ashley, thanks a lot, darling! I had fun with this pic, I was trying to go for the all pink deal but ach... just can't!

I think all pink might have been a bit over-whelming, so your choice benefited all of us ;)

It's beautiful Coty! Nice work with the cel shading, I always had trouble with that kind of shading and I love that style. :P

I love how the flowers interweave with the celtic knot work. :D

Aw, thanks, Erika. If you love the style just go for it, you will not mess it up! it is actually easier than a smooth transition , imo, it is just that now that I have the tablet it is faster to use blended colors.

i forgot to add, the ribbon!! it's fantastic, i love the way it 'does' look like it's weaving through the knoted heart!! wonderful :) you put a lot of detail into this one, it's special :)

:) Thanks a lot! I debated a lot whether to add the ribbon, I was unsure about covering the knotwork (it actually covers the two more creative parts, imo) but I liked how it looked.

Hey Steph! Thanks a lot!
I am doing well, I am working, teaching labs and soon will start job hunting again since they will not renew my contract next semester (which I wish they've told me before, since they knew from November) but it's OK, really nothing to make a big deal about, it might actually be what I need to move forward.
Besides that all is really well. My husband just got the renewal of his grant so he has money for one more year, the cats are doing great and I can put time into art almost every evening.
What about you?

Aww, Thanks, Sabra, the knotwork actually is very simple, but duplicated, so it looks more complex. I am trying to get myself better at doing knotwork since it is something that I enjoy but that I left abandoned for a few years.

it shows. Baka is right, cell shading does work for you nicely.
For some reason, I have a hard time pulling it off. Unless it's vector. And even then I have a hard time because I tend to put more shades than necessary.

:) Thanks!!
Cell shading doesn't really look good until you are at least half way done, a the beginning of each piece it looks not right. It is really an oversimplification of the areas of light.

I know, it is usually hard each time that we get out of our comfort zone. back in the day I started copying Disney's images, so it was kind of natural for me to think in cell shading. It was hard to go into a blended look ;) but now I find it to be faster.
